Selbyville Business Moves to Solar Power for Stabilizing Energy Costs
This Selbyville business owner was interested in reducing his energy bills. His manufacturing business operates using compressors and other equipment that is completely reliant on fossil generated energy supplied by the power company.
With historical data that shows an annual 11% average inflationary rate on electric power in this region, there were real concerns over what his energy bills would be in a couple of years. And, at anytime the rates could be increased even higher than what we have seen.
He was convinced that lowering his reliance on fossil fuel and stabilizing his operating costs now, for power in the future, would be a smart business decision. He had heard from some local businesses that there were state and federal incentives in place that made purchasing a system affordable, however, everyone seemed to have a different take on what incentives were out there and what the status was on funding. More so, how do you even get it?
So he called Flexera to investigate what he could do to reach this goal.
The Flexera team met with the owner and completed a thorough energy analysis to determine what opportunities were available for his specific energy needs. After a lot of research and review, it was determined that his facility would benefit the most from a self ballasted system that leverages photovoltaic energy reflected from the surface of the roof. The custom design enabled him to maximize his watts per square foot and give him the return on investment that met his expectations.
In addition, Flexera handled all grant forms and processing, signed him up to manage and sell his Solar Renewable Energy Credits (often referred to as Certificates), and generated detailed cash flow projections.
The system is designed to produce an expected average monthly output of 3,239 kWh's from the 33,124 watts of solar power installed.
