Poultry Farm Plans for the Future with Solar Power
Rob Isaacs, owner of Isaacs Poultry Farm, decided that it was time to take control of his energy needs. Since energy is a very substantial operating cost for his poultry farm, it seemed logical to investigate methods of securing affordable renewable energy while government incentives are in place. Also, new legislation in Delaware recently created a very significant opportunity to generate even higher long term income from the sale of his Solar Renewable Energy Certificates. In doing so, he could enjoy producing his own free power and income when he needs it most - on the sunny days when his poultry houses need ventilation to cool his flocks.
This beautifully designed solar power system boasts a capacity of 63,000 DC Watts. Comprised of 350 photovoltaic panels, this system is slated to generate approximately 80,000 kWhs annually.
By using solar power to offset their power bills and generate income from Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs), Isaac's Farm will have a combined savings and income of over $26,000 annually.
Getting into the system was also very attractive with state and federal grants that amounted to a 63% cash rebate on the entire system cost.
In addition, the owner can also utilize a 5 year accelerated depreciation schedule on the system.
We congratulate The Isaacs Family on their proactive approach to energy management and cost savings and look forward to sharing their success with other farmers in the Delmarva Region to help them realize the same.
"We did the research and Flexera was the company that best understood our needs as poultry producers. They did all the research to make sure our system was designed to work properly with all our equipment and infrastructure. Flexera's solar design is a great investment with a fast return. With the income we are going to generate and the rising cost of electricity, we are now well positioned for any future energy increases. I would highly recommend putting a system in right now."
